Adolescent Mental Health Through a Public Health and Policy Lens

A student-led research project exploring prevention strategies, policy gaps, and population-level approaches to improving adolescent mental health outcomes.

Research Focus Areas

Adolescent Mental Health Trends

Analyzing data on teen anxiety, depression, and suicide trends to understand population-level patterns and risk factors.

Prevention & Early Intervention

Exploring how schools, communities, and public systems can implement preventive mental health strategies before crises occur.

Policy Gaps & Systemic Barriers

Evaluating current mental health policies affecting adolescents and identifying gaps in access, funding, and implementation.

Why a Public Health Approach to Teen Mental Health?

While mental health is often discussed at the individual level, public health focuses on prevention, population-level outcomes, and systemic solutions. Understanding teen mental health through this lens allows for broader, long-term strategies that address root causes rather than only symptoms.

Examining Policy & Structural Gaps

A key area of interest is identifying gaps in existing policies related to adolescent mental health – including disparities in school-based resources, access to care, and community-level funding. By examining these gaps, I aim to better understand how systems-level changes can improve outcomes for teens.
